Worming Your Pets
Here is a list of all available wormers and their use. This is a guideline to use but always consult with your vet by phone before using. If in doubt of which worms your animal might have, drop off a stool sample to your vet and ask for a parasite panel to be run for worms that also includes coccidiosis and giardia.

PURPOSE: PUPPY, PREGANT/ LACTATING FEMALES, ANNUAL
TREATS: ROUNDWORMS, HOOKWORMS
AGENT: PYRANTEL PAMOATE SUSPENSION- 50 mg./ml
ADMINISTER: ORAL DOSE ONLY
Treats roundworms and hookworms – Inexpensive General purpose Dewormer used for limited spectrum deworming. Typical dosage for dogs weighing more than 5 pounds is 5mg/kg (2.27mg/pound) and 10mg/kg (4.55mg/pound) for dogs weighing less than 5 pounds. Use on Puppies => 2 weeks old, adults, lactating females, pregnant females. For best results dose for 3 consecutive days. Repeat every 2 weeks for puppies (2,4,6,8,10 weeks). General purpose Dewormer for puppies. Safe and effective general purpose dewormer for dogs of all ages. -- ORAL DOSAGE ONLY –
Pyrantel Pamoate Suspension (common name Strongid® T) is a limited spectrum wormer that removes and controls a variety of canine worms - Roundworms and Hookworms. Effectively controls large and small strongyles and large roundworms (Parascaris equorum). Comes in a palatable caramel flavored suspension. Available in 16oz, and 32oz sizes from a Vet Supply like Revival without a prescription.
For an accurate dosage use a 1 ml/cc syringe for Puppies and a 3 ml/cc or 5 ml/cc syringe for Adults (remove needle). 1ml. = 1cc.
APPLICATION PUPPIES
For best results, treat puppies at 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 weeks of age.
Note: Puppies under 5 lbs. require a higher dose of Pyrantel than those above 5 lbs.

Ivermectin (Ivomec, Heartgard): treats roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and prevents heartworms. Typical dosage for intestinal parasites is 0.2mg/kg (0.09mg/pound=~1/10cc per 10 pounds). Heartworm prevention is .006mg/kg (.003mg/pound). A 1% solution of Ivermectin is equal to 10mg/ml). Heartgard is prescription only. USE LIQUID IVERMECTIN IN WITH GREAT CAUTION IN COLLIES AND RELATED BREEDS! AND make sure you use a human diabetic syringe when drawing it out to be exact. This is a dangerous drug and you can kill your pet if you over dose. *notice 1 tenth of a CC per 30 pounds of the 0.08% sheep drench Ivomec. Do not get this confused. Any questions consult your vet. This can be purchased at any Tractor Supply or on amazon. I will provide the correct links below to take you to the actual product. You can purchase syringes on amazon or any pharmacy without a script.
Directions for using 0.08% sheep drench Ivermectin. Ivermectin sheep drench solution contains a lower concentration than other ivermectin products for cattle, so it can be used without diluting it first. Ivemectin is given orally (never use pour-on solutions for heartworm prevention). Dosage using Ivermectin 0.08% solution for heartworm prevention (you may want to double these doses for better protection): up to 14 pounds: 1 drop (0.05 cc) 15 to 29 pounds: 0.1 cc 30 to 58 pounds: 0.2 cc 59 to 88 pounds: 0.3 cc 89 to 117 pounds: 0.4 cc 118 to 147 pounds: 0.5 cc 1 cc of ivermectin 0.08% sheep drench solution contains 800 mcg; 0.1 cc = 80 mcg ivermectin.The exact dosage is 0.034 cc per 10 pounds of body weight, or approximately 0.1 cc per 30 pounds of body weight.

Praziquantel: (Droncit without a prescripton) Tape worm removal FDA approved for use in dogs as 34mg tablets. (THIS IS NOT THE FELINE DOSE) The usual dose of Droncit Canine for dogs and puppies at least 4 weeks old is up to 5 lbs give 1/2 tablet, 6-10 lbs give 1 tablet, 11-15 lbs give 1 and ½ tablets, 16-30 lbs give 2 tablets, 31-45 lbs give 3 tablets, 46-60 lbs give 4 tablets, and over 60 lbs give 5 tablets maximum. The usual dose of Droncit Feline for cats and kittens at least 6 weeks old is up to 4 lbs give 1/4 tablet, 5-11 lbs give 1 tablet, over 11 lbs give 1 and 1/2 tablets. For dogs and cats, the tablets are given as a single dose. The tablets may be crumbled and mixed with food.

Neem Oil Has many uses. Not limited to just fleas, ticks, lice and

Metronidazole (Flagyl): treats Giardia. Typical dosage is 50mg/kg
(22.7mg/pound) for 5-7 days. Can use one daily or split into two equal
treatments per day. This is also RX only from your vet, but you can
purchase it labled for fish from Pet Supplies Plus and all over online.
Much more cost effective.
Antiprotozoal
Oral Paste (Marquis) Treats Coccidia. Typical dosage 1 cc per 10#s body
weight. Repeat in 7 days with same dosage.Krause Vet Clinic in Armada
MI carries it. Works far more superiour than Albon
Sulfadimethoxine
(Albon): treats coccidia. Typical dosage is 55mg/kg (25mg/pound) on day
1, then 27.5mg/kg (12.5mg/pound) once daily for 9 additional days.
Albon can take weeks to completely rid the animal of coccidia. We've
found that Marquis works in 2 doses.
Milbemycin oxime
(Interceptor/Sentinel): controls roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and
prevents heartworms. Typical dosage is 0.5-0.99mg/kg. Prescription only.
Piperazine
(many OTC products): treats roundworms. Typical dosage is 110mg/kg
(50mg/pound). Can purchase at any Pet Store or online vet storeD
